Procurement Lead

Full-time

We are seeking an experienced Procurement & Inventory Specialist with expertise in R&D-driven procurement processes. The role involves managing vendor relationships, maintaining inventory, and ensuring cost-efficient purchasing. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in chemical item evaluation, inventory categorization, and process improvement while ensuring alignment with the organization’s financial and operational objectives.


Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Vendor Management

  • Manage vendor database and select suitable vendors for chemical items.
  • Finalize Annual Rate Contracts (ARC) and issue Purchase Orders (POs) and Service Orders.
  • Track vendor performance to ensure timely inspections, payments, and dispatches.

Inventory Management

  • Categorize inventory using scientific techniques (e.g., V.E.D analysis).
  • Maintain optimal stock levels and ensure periodic disposal of dead inventory.
  • Implement monitoring systems to track stock movement and response time.

Cost & Quality Management

  • Evaluate costing of items to ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Negotiate with vendors for high-quality products at optimal prices.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to maintain consistent quality standards.

Process Improvement

  • Identify improvement areas and implement Kaizen methodologies.
  • Adhere to 6S workplace management principles (Sort, Set, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, Safety).

Financial Awareness

  • Sound knowledge of financial terms: PBT, PAT, Turnover, Revenue, AOP.
  • Ensure procurement aligns with broader financial goals and targets.

Technical & Software Skills

  • Basic knowledge of metals, alloys, and mechanical spare items.
  • Proficiency in MM (Materials Management) modules and MS Office for reporting.
  • Ability to draft and present professional PPTs for projects.

Customer & Alignment

  • Align procurement and inventory practices with organizational values and customer requirements.
  • Implement effective controls to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Identify and bridge gaps in customer requirements.

Self-Development & Role Awareness

  • Understand personal role and contribution to the organization.
  • Create and follow a development plan to upgrade skills continuously.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in procurement, vendor management, and inventory control in mechanical/engineering sectors.
  • Knowledge of engineering drawings, spares, and metals/alloys.
  • Strong understanding of inventory categorization techniques like V.E.D analysis.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Familiarity with financial metrics to align procurement decisions with company targets.
  • Hands-on experience with MM Modules and MS Office.
