Category Manager – Crop Protection Chemicals

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Category Manager for Crop Protection Chemicals (CPC) to oversee the entire sales and management lifecycle of our agrochemical products. This role requires a strategic leader with a proven track record of managing a large-scale retail operation. You will be responsible for procurement, placement, and liquidation of CPC products across our 100+ retail stores in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. The ideal candidate will be based at our headquarters in Kurnool (Andhra Pradesh) and have extensive supervisory experience at a state or country level.


Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning: Translate the organization’s business strategy for the CPC category into actionable state- and store-level plans to achieve sales and margin targets.
  • Budget Management: Plan for and achieve sales and margin budgets for the entire CPC category, with a specific focus on the organization’s key products.
  • Vendor Relations: Establish and maintain strategic relationships with manufacturers and distributors for product sourcing across India.
  • Inventory & Logistics: Manage inventory levels of all CPC SKUs in warehouses and retail stores across all states, ensuring minimum fill rates and timely stock liquidation.
  • Promotional Activities: Plan and execute promotional strategies for the CPC category.
  • Demand Forecasting: Forecast product demand across relevant geographies to optimize inventory and sales.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) in retail operations and guarantee all regulatory compliance at the store and state level.
  • Training & Development: Facilitate the development of relevant training materials for the CPC category.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: B.Sc. in Agriculture or Horticulture is mandatory. M.Sc. in Agriculture or an MBA in Agribusiness is preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 10+ years of experience in the sales and marketing of Crop Protection Chemicals is required.
  • Leadership: Must have served in a state or country-level supervisory role for 5+ years.
  • Location Experience: Experience across multiple states, especially in North India, is highly preferred.

Key Skills & Attributes

  • Agro-Technical Knowledge: Good understanding of the agronomy of common crops across India.
  • Computer Proficiency: Proficient in MS Office, with strong skills in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
  • Negotiation: Excellent negotiation skills for vendor management and partnerships.
  • Team Management: Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Travel: Comfortable with extended travel across various states.
  • Languages: Fluency in Telugu and Hindi is a must. English and Marathi are preferred.
