Job Opening: Area Sales Manager (ASM) – Punjab (Pesticides)

Balaji Consultancy is hiring a high-energy, results-oriented Area Sales Manager (ASM) to spearhead our Crop Protection and Pesticides business in Punjab. Based out of Patiala, you will be responsible for leading field operations, expanding our retailer network, and driving sales growth in one of India’s most critical agricultural hubs.

The ideal candidate will have 5 to 8 years of experience in Crop Protection Chemicals (CPC) and a proven ability to manage large-scale agri-distribution networks.

  • Experience: 5+ Years in CPC Sales; 4-5 Years in a Supervisory/Team Lead role

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Strategic Execution: Translate regional business strategies into actionable district and field-level plans to achieve ambitious sales and network growth targets.
  • Network Expansion: Lead the identification, onboarding, and training of retail partners and influencers to scale the company’s market presence.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise, motivate, and mentor a team of Territory Managers and Field Executives across the Punjab region.
  • KPI Ownership: Drive monthly and quarterly targets for sales volume, partner activation, retention, and profit margins.
  • Digital Engagement: Ensure the field team utilizes digital platforms for order generation, reporting, and high partner engagement.
  • Market Intelligence: Analyze competitor activities and local market feedback to develop localized strategies for rural market penetration.
  • Operational Compliance: Ensure all operations adhere to internal SOPs and regulatory requirements within the state.

Candidate Requirements & Skills

  • Mandatory Education: B.Sc. in Agriculture or Horticulture is required. An M.Sc. or MBA in Agribusiness is highly preferred.
  • Industry Experience: Minimum 5 years in Crop Protection Chemicals (CPC) sales and marketing.
  • Leadership: 4–5 years of experience managing teams at a state or zonal level.
  • Regional Expertise: Strong understanding of Punjab’s agronomy, crop patterns (Wheat, Rice, Cotton), and farmer behavior.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in Punjabi and Hindi is essential; English is preferred.
  • Mobility: Must be comfortable with extensive travel across Punjab and have proficient computer skills (MS Office).
